Rec time!

First off I would like to say thank you to the beautiful Fallanydeeper for the sexy new banner!

Okay so today's rec is A Matter of Life and Death by Derdriu oFaolain and WhatsMyNomDePlume

Summary: Forget being scared to death, Bella Swan isn't even scared of death, something that both greatly annoys and—even if he won't admit it—entices Edward Cullen. If only she weren't trying to destroy him. Collab w/ WhatsMyNomDePlume for FGB.



In all honesty you just have to look at the names of the authors to see this fic is going to be good, then when you add in the fact it was written from a request from the also awesome Quothme, I don't see how this could ever go wrong in all honesty.

I love Edward and Bella in this, both are cocky and I love how they interact with each other. Edward is Death and Bella is nearly finished creating an elixir for eternal life. He obviously has to stop her. It's not technically a humour fic, but I think there's definitely some dark humour in there and I love it! Edward and Bella keep butting heads and reading their little arguments is awesome. The end is very touching and emotional and amazing.

It's not a long fic, just a quick, highly entertaining read. And it's complete for those people that are allergic to WIPs, though personally I don't know how those people have the patience to wait for fics!

It's Christmas! (I hope you read that like in the classic christmas song So Here It Is Merry Christmas by Slade)

So here is a nice Christmasy rec... by nice I mean it's kind of heartbreaking so far.
It is The Christmas Book by ericastwilight

Summary: After the loss of his best friend and his wife,Edward is responsible for their little girl. Unable to get the child to open up, he takes her to a bookstore. Inside, he finds a loving young woman, hurting from past regrets and the owner of a magical book.

It made me cry. It's not many chapters in yet, but it's obvious it's going to be a good one. I love the idea and the writing and it's one of THOSE updates, the one that makes you read it the second it's arrived.

Edward is left looking after the adorable Alyssa after Jasper and Alice die, and to try cheer her up around the holiday season he takes her to a book store where they meet the lovely Bella. The lovely Bella happens to own a magic book passed down through the family that grants wishes, but we're still learning about that.... and that last chapter left us on a little bit of a cliffie, I can't wait to see what happens next!

And also, I bring you a New Years rec! This rec happened to be my first rec back on the bffffffffers I believe lol, man I miss that place.

Summary:A New Year's Eve car crash, jammed phone lines and a dash of fate bring Bella and Edward together for an evening neither of them was expecting. Add couple of surprising twists and a few colorful friends, and they're in for an evening they'll never forget.



If you get left a little sad from The Christmas Book this should cheer you right up. Tis awesome. The best type of Edward and Bella, weird and random! It has a feel a bit like Nick and Nora's infinite play list so if you like that you should like this fic. Go read it! Now!

rambles

So I decided I'm going to post about more than just recs on here, I'm also going to dribble on about fandom related rubbish lol.

So for my first ramble I'd like to rabbit on about PDFs. Has anyone else noticed how people rarely swap links any more? People ask for a rec, they ask for a PDF. Is it weird that this bugs me? If people are only reading fics as PDFs now, what about the online version, if you just read pdfs, how do you review or fave a fic? Ho does the author know you're liking their work? I won't lie, I don't always review, mostly because I never have a clue what to say and can be pretty socially awkward really, but if I like a fic I always fave it. I also write my own fic, one thing I look at is traffic, if I see my stories getting traffic this makes me happy, I assume others might be like this too, but surely if fics are being read as PDFs randomly traded in seedy back alleys then that traffic won't go on the fic right? You loose a lot of author/reader interaction then.

Plus I won't lie... sometimes it's nice to just rec something without having to explain you don't have the PDF lmao! I get that people have e readers and want to read fic on there, but like, don't people read on their computers any more? I would also love to know if the PDF people actually do give the authors any feed back or kudos for their stories...

My first rec!

Okay so for my first rec I'm going with The Cellar by iambeaglesummary: Boy meets Girl. Girl's friend throws up on Boy's shoes. A story about wannabe hipsters, awkward moments, and soul mates.

This fic kept me up the other night. I saw it recced on ADF and thought I'd just read a chapter or two before I go to sleep.... but lo and behold... I read the whole damn thing! Such a funny story! I love the Bella and Edward in this fic. It's exactly the type of humour I love in a fanfiction; quick and witty. The things that come out of our favourite pair's mouths are so random, I love them!

"On a scale from one to Michael Cera, how hipster do I look?"
Ben asked seriously."Don't ever ask me that again."

Ben might just be my favourite Ben so far, he's a total want to be hipster... though I won't lie, I think Edward and Bella are totally the real hipsters in this story, but not on purpose, it's just the way they are.

Here's just a few funny quotes... there's way more but I'm feeling lazy.

"Hi. I'm Bella and my friend likes to puke on people's shoes. Nice to meet you," Blue Scarf, Bella, said and handed me her drink so she could tend to her friend.

....

"Yeah, yeah. I believe you. You're not Jane's type, anyway."
"Oh, I'm not?" I leaned a little closer. "Maybe she's not my type."
"She goes for guys with great hair and," she sipped her beer, "your locks definitely don't fall into that category."
"I'm wounded," I insisted, running a hand through my hair. "First you call me a premature ejaculator and now you're dissing my hair?"
"You're just sensitive. And you still use the word 'diss'. That's three strikes against you already," Bella scolded and scanned the bar, laughing when her eyes landed on her friend Kate grinding against some guy I hadn't seen before.

Most of the story takes place over the night they meet, and what a night it is! They have a mini adventure and have some amazing conversation along the way. The story is sort of complete... I think it was once, but the author has decided to add some Christmas to it by the looks of it (something I'm very happy about.)

Hi! So I have decided I'm making a blog for reccing Twilight fanfics I like. I tend to have a problem with flouncing, an issue many suffer with I'm sure... however I tend to flounce fics I find everyone else loves! So I though I'd make this, for other oddballs who tend to avoid cliché angst. Not saying fics I like aren't cliché... but meh. I like funny fic, or unique fic. Snarky wit with plenty of pop culture references is my favourite type. So yeah, be prepared for lots of feel good recs with the occasional well written unique dramatic fic thrown in!
